I sighed as I headed back up the stairs, realizing something else Iâd forgotten to get and making it appear in storage, hoping Mary and Kary werenât letting people go back there. Sure enough, Tom and Mark were engrossed in their jobs, and I headed to storage to drag out the trolley of food grade plastic drying trays with tiny holes in them. There were forty trays on the one trolley, which would be more than enough to start with.
I had Grace send up the elevator, and she actually came up with the chopped bacon, and I gave her the trays to wheel down, wash, and dry.
âI called Emily, and she said she could be here today at noon to get some training since she had the day and weâre not as busy as last Sunday now that the competition is over.â
âMakes sense,â I muttered, bobbing my head. âThe calm before the holiday crazy storm. Thatâs fine. Donât give her the code to the kitchen door until I say for sure she can start.â
âRoger that.â
Eight millimeters wasnât all that thin for dough, it was almost three eighths of an inch, so the sheeter didnât have to work crazy hard. And Kary was the master of machines, so by the time I returned, she had the biscuit machine ready and I got to see the maiden run.
Which actually fucking worked, to my pleasant surprise.
âWait, you didnât know this would work?â Tom checked, his eyes wide at the machine that couldnât be cheap.
âIâve got a thirty day money back guarantee,â I lied, not able to tell him I got the machine for free because I was a goddess and used my power that way.
Yeah, and then heâd faint if not try to lock me up for being crazy.
Mary switched with Kary and loaded paper-lined trays while Tom caught and stacked them on the rack for now. I worked the dough sheeter after I added the bacon to the pot and checked on the soup, having the most experience with it anyways.
âIâm almost out of batter,â Mark called over. âI refilled and restarted, but this jug is almost out.â
âOh, there are more jugs in the fridge,â I assured him, smiling widely. âThose freeze for two months, so Iâll take as many as you can make. They fly off the shelves.â
âTheyâre very in right now,â he agreed.
I shrugged. âItâs new here but not in Europe or Asia. They crepe everything.â
âNot that I can think about food again yet, but that matcha crepe cake was amazing,â he complimented.
I thanked him and went to get two more jugs of regular batter from the fridge, taking the dirty one downstairs to the sink⦠And just in time for Louis to arrive.
With a strange man.
âDo you have my machines?â I asked him, not hiding he was in the dog house with me.
âI do, I have the two,â he answered, giving me a nervous look. âMs. Baker, this is my boss, Charles Perry.â
I nodded to the man but didnât engage otherwise.
